More reviews of The Harvey Girls 'I've Been Watching...'
Reviews are still coming in for The Harvey Girls excellent I've Been Watching a Lot of Horror Movies Lately. Little Reviews is a French-language site. Nana10 is a Hebrew-language site. And Redefine says, "Hints of new wave, post-punk, folk rock, ambient, and straightforward indie rock all take turns receiving The Harvey Girls treatment. Their insistence on focusing on singular good ideas and their lack of stylistic rigidity makes their eccentric creations feel humble."
Getting to Know Rickolus
We want to take a minute to introduce you to Rickolus, a new artist on Circle Into Square. Rickolus is our buddy Rick Colado from Jacksonville Beach, FLA. He does the one man band sort of thing, and does it well. Rick produces all of his own music and it sounds absolute amazing. He was introduced to us by Electric President/Ben Cooper. Rickolus's music is really solid, and reminds us of a cross between early bowie (production wise) and some of the pop sensibilities of electric president… he’s definitely got his own thing going on, though.
We’re releasing his new album Youngster on July 27th. Here’s the lead track off the album, “No Future”:
Rickolus - No Future by CircleIntoSquare
We also recently released a FREE four song EP earlier this month called Sinking in Mirrors. Go grab it! Fan him on Facebook! And if you're in the area known as Florida, go to the CD release show at the Tree Hill Amphitheater (7152 Lone Star Road; in the Tree Hill nature preserve) in Jacksonville. It's free and starts at 8.
The Pyre from Sole and Ravi Zupa
"The Pyre" is a collaboration between Tim Holland (sole) and Ravi Zupa. The Pyre is a 72-page illustrated epic poem with an accompanying full length audiobook/album. sole's site says "Holland & Zupa evoke the confusion, violence, hope, and voice of twelve thousand years spent digging in the mud." Pre-orders are available now from black canyon music, sole's official webstore. You can pick up the book and CD or throw in a t-shirt to sweeten the deal. Get it while you can.

Great mention on the Paris Review blog for Brand New Crime
There's a nice little ditty on the Paris Review blog about Brand New Crime. It's sort of hidden so we'll link to it, but also repost it here:
(8:45, under 'music') "I’m listening to Brand New Crime, a split EP by two hip-hop groups. I heard about it because a friend of mine was in one of the groups, mic.edu. The re-release is a tribute to another member of mic.edu, Lafura Jackson, who passed away ten years ago at twenty-four. The proceeds from this re-release are being donated to the Cancer Research Institute in Jackson’s memory. I bought the album because it was for such a good cause, but also because I love their songs, especially “Surrogate Role Model,” which I listen to on repeat while I walk to the train. One of the highlights is Jackson switching seamlessly between Japanese and English as he raps."
