“Bathing for the Betterment of Cold Drink” plays out like ride on a less than sturdy bike down some less than desirable streets of Oakland California. The second release from Oakland’s own Bre’r (Darren Fisher), offers unabashed showerings of slurred, a-tonal drawls that creep from around blind corners to bless a static and refracted rhythm that dies before you knew it was there. Then again without warning, another blissed glaze is applied that drowns the listener in a cesspool of the staple anti-obstacle approach that lends its gifts in the form of big science swells pasted frenetically as if there were only one shot at it all…like a ton of mason blocks thrown from a building and never hit the ground.
