"Young San Francisco" is the first single from the upcoming Boy in Static album Candy Cigarette. The opening album version blends lighthearted toy pianos, bouncing violas, and a singalong chorus into a soundtrack perfectly suited for t-shirt weather. Then, three remixers add their unique icy electronic flavor. Montag steers towards 80's electro with curious synths and chord changes reminiscent of Soft Cell. Next, Styrofoam delivers a jubilant and quirky remix, with its hard-hitting dance beat skittering along like a party-friendly Mouse on Mars. Finally, Miwon's take is introspective, melding pulsing electronics and carefully rearranged violas into a gentle soundscape. A playful collection of tracks, "Young San Francisco" is an excellent first taste of Boy in Static's newly revitalized sound.
